Antinational workshopday / Antinationaler Workshoptag
Universitätsstrasse 5, Wien
One specificity of the recent rise of right wing movements and populist parties in the eurozone is precisely it‘s international, europe-wide dimension. This specificity culminates right now in the increasingly serious plans to construct an extreme right fraction within the european parlament, an undertaking which was always procluded or soon dissolved by internal disagreement and strife. But in the recent economic and political crisis of the Eurozone Europe seems to provide both the necessary point of agreement and a common enemy for the different right wing movements to overcome their fundamental differences at least within the European Parlament. Europe is thus referenced doubly, once positively as an imagined culturally homogenous tradition and territory, and secondly as an evil political and buerocratic institution taking souvereignty from the different nation states.
Increasingly over the last few years and under the guidance oft he Austrian FPÖ, the Wiener Akademiker Ball has tried to provide a plattform for such an unification of the european extreme right. Thus, it’s in-depth analysis as well as the resistance to it has to be transnational as well and take into account the different forms and characteristics the rise of the extreme right has taken throughout Europe as well as the different modes, successes and failures of antifascist struggles against it, from Greece over Hungary to Norway and England. This day of antinational workshops and forums of discussions, organized by the antinational alliance …umsGanze! wants to provided such a framework for this necessary and overdue exchange. Come, fight, discuss and celebrate with comrads from all over Europe in Vienna the day after the protests against the Wiener Akademiker Ball.
There will be snacks throughout the day as well as dinner in the evening
